Education

As a leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Body Positive strives to both reduce infection and add to the quality of life by providing educational opportunities.  It is through knowledge that we gain understanding and empowerment.  It is through education that we reduce the ignorance and fear, clarify misconceptions, and change attitudes and behavior.

"Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it."
Marian Wright Edelman

  • Pizza and the Basics = meets on the second Saturday of every month, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  This all-day workshop is open to the community free of charge.  The curriculum includes: biology of the virus, transmission trends both locally and globally, modes of transmission, prevention strategies, testing, signs and symptoms, treatment, medication adherence issues, resistance and resistance testing, nutrition, naturopathic medicine as a supportive therapy, behavioral health issues, and community resources.  All materials are provided without cost, as are the meals (a light breakfast and pizza for lunch).  We especially welcome those who are newly diagnosed and their support network.  To enroll in the workshop, call 602 307-5330 and ask to be placed on the roster.
  • Community Education Events= are offered upon request to anyone interested in learning more about HIV, Body Positive, HIV and mental health, the importance of volunteerism, and other related issues.  Body Positive representatives are available to present at your site, or display information at community events.   Please give at least two weeks notice and we ask that you complete the speaker/presentation request.  *Download Form
